Third Grade Behavior

This year in third grade we will continue to use "Capturing Kids Heart"social contracts. Teachers and students will make a contract together in each of the classrooms. It includes things such as being respectful, being honest, being a good listener, being responsible, following directions, etc. If students do not follow the contract set forth when in the classroom, they will receive a sign on the nine weeks calendar in their planner.

 The planner is a communication tool. It is our way of informing parents of what is happening at school as well as keep track of patterns in the area of academics, behavior, and dress code.

At the end of the nine weeks, infractions will determine their citizenship grade on the report cards. Third grade will be using the following scale when determining the citizenship grades.

E=0-4 infractions
S=5-9 infractions
N= 10-14 infractions
U= 15+ infractions

On the back of the planner sheet, teachers will be keeping track of recurring infractions in the behavior, academic, or dress code categories. Multiple infractions will result in contact from the teacher and eventually result in an office referral, see below.
4th sign: parent contacted
5th sign: office referral (behavior signs)
7th sign: parent conference
10th sign: referral (behavior signs)

**Detention may be assigned by administration at their discretion. Detention will be after school from 3:30-4:00. Parents will be informed if detention has been assigned the day before, so transportation can be arranged.**

 **If students are sent to the office for ISS/OCS, the citizenship grade will
 automatically drop to a "N".
It will also exclude them from any citizenship award.**

In third grade, we do not require planners to be signed daily. We do expect the blue planner sheet to be signed each weekend.
