Spelling
- Spelling lists will go home every week on Friday. They will be stapled to the planner sheet.
- Please do not remove spelling lists from the planner. They will be used during the week for practice.
- Spelling tests will be the following Friday.
No Spelling Test Until AFTER winter break.
Poems
- Poems will be recited in class.
- Students will have approximately three weeks to memorize their poems.

Reading Log:
- Reading logs will go home with students on Monday.
- Reading logs will be due the following Monday.
- Students are to read 20 minutes minimum per night.
- The 20 minutes each day, can be split up if students aren't up to reading for 20 minutes straight. They could break it into 10/10 min or 5/5/5/5 min for a total of 20 minutes per night. If really needed, parents can alternate reading a pages with students.
- Students will then need to fill out their sticky note for the night.
- Students will need to return their logs and book (the one from the sticky note) each day to share with the class.

Idioms
- Each nine weeks, students will be tested over the idioms they worked on in class.
- The test will be the last Tuesday of the nine weeks.
- Students will be required to match the idiom to their definition.

Author of the Month
Each month we will be spotlighting one famous children's author.
- Students may pick up a biography sheet on the author to fill out from the board across from Mrs. Munoz's room.
- It will be due to ELAR teachers the last school day of the month.
- If they participate in 5 of the 8 months, they will receive a certificate at awards ceremonies at the end of the year.
