Third Grade Grading Policy

Grade Weights:

Math Weights:
  • 10% homework
  • 40% classwork
  • 50% tests
Science Weights:
  • 50% classwork
  • 50% tests
ELAR and Social Studies will not be weighting grades. All grades will count once in the grade book.

Assignment Expectations:

Assignments are to be completed when assigned by the teacher. If an assignment must be taken home to finish, or homework is given, the assignment will be due at the time the teacher has designated. If assignments are not returned on the expected dates, students will receive a signing on their blue planner sheet. The student will also receive a point deduction on the assignment. The highest grade attainable for late assignments will go as follows.

One Day Late=85 (minus 15 point)
Two Days Late=70 (minus 30 points)
Three to Seven Days late=50 (minus 50 points)

A "M" will be placed in the gradebook when an assignment is late. The "M" will stay in the gradebook until the assignment is turned in. Students will have
7 days
to get any late work turned in, if the assignment is still not turned in, the grade will be changed to a zero.

Late Work:
We understand that periodically students will become sick, have doctor's appointments, or need to miss class for one reason or another. If a student misses class, all assignments that were assigned previously, will be due the day the student returns. If a student is absent when a new assignment is assigned, then the student will need to see the teacher the day they return to school to collect the assignments and get the due date. Students have one day for each day they are absent plus one to complete the new assignments.

Cheating Policy
As per the ACA Student Code of Conduct, if students are found cheating, the teacher may assign a zero for the assignment in question. (p. 9 Class II Disciplinary Consequences)
